DARKEST DAWN
A story written by Oche Jeremiah
EPISODE 7

********
I decided I will meet the pastor first thing when I return to town.
“I'll meet him first thing when I get back from the village.”
I was still troubled as I could not deduce or even guess what pastor saw about me. I just have to be patient till I get back to town or so I thought.

I and mama kept praying and waiting upon God for a positive news. She never stopped encouraging me not to give up. She used the circumstances that was recorded in the book of Daniel to stir up my weak faith.
“Daniel prayed and his answers were delayed for 21 days. He didn’t give up or stopped praying. He kept praying until the answer was released to him. My son, now is not the time to faint. Now is the time to take what the devil has stolen from you. You must pray without ceasing. You must believe in him without doubting. You must take him at his word. You must fight till the finish because at the end of the tunnel, there is a great light that will shine upon you.”
My mum also prayed with me. She kept talking to God on my behalf to lift up the embargo and we had our hopes held high.

*********
The following morning came, and mama asked me to pay the local chief a visit.
“But why should I pay him a visit mama?”
My son, the local chief has a son that has a company both in the country and abroad. I’ve been told he has helped many youths especially those from the village. I believe there is hope. I believe solidly that he is going to help you. Remember we have prayed and we walk by faith and not by mere sight.”
That was how mama convinced me to give it a try to see if something positive will truly come out from it.
I agreed with mama and got ready to visit the local chief that morning.

Kaaaaaaaaabiesiiiiiiiiii (I prostrated on the floor in greetings to the local chief).
He responded and we began talking and then he asked where I came from and what I was doing currently i.e. working. Truly he is a man that believed in hard work because all through my stay there, he never stopped emphasizing on hard work and diligence.
“Kabiesi, I am a graduate that studied software engineering. I have graduated for over eight years now and there’s been no job for me. I’ve tried many companies. I’ve applied to many reputable firms. Some called me and after the interviews I didn’t hear from them again while some did not call me at all. I am here to plead for your assistance my king if I can be helped to secure an employment. I will be truly grateful sir if you help me to do this”
“Hmmmmmm” came the king’s reply.
“Your father was a respected elder in this community. He was so faithful and was indeed one of my closest chief until death took him away from us. His intelligence and prowess at handling matters made him to stand out among his others peers. I personally have great regard for your father.” Said the king.
“I will help you my son. I believe you are from a good family and good people should be helped. One of my sons is operating a firm with branches scattered both within and outside the shores of this country. I will immediately call him to find out what he can do to alleviate you from this burden of joblessness. Be rest assured that something good is about to happen to you”.
The king assured me and in my front, he called his son and they spoke at length about me. Instantly, the son agreed to accept me and the king even ordered him that he wanted me to resume as soon as possible that my father was a good man and he felt I will be a capable hand to make the company grow. I was so elated when this was said.

His son requested he wants to talk to me so the phone was given to me. I collected the phone and we began talking. The way we flowed on phone was as if we had known each other before now. He promised to set me up (give me employment) as soon as possible. That all he needed me to do was to go get my credentials, bring it to his father and when his father crosschecks it, I will be given the employment.
Luckily for me, I brought my credentials to the village with me. I quickly dashed off like a running athlete to the house. I fetched my credentials.
Happiness within my loins didn’t even allow me to break the news to my mum. I just told her that God will make a way.
I quickly rushed back to the palace to handover the credentials to the king.

When I got back to the palace, the king was no longer on his throne. The whole palace was thrown into confusion and there was pandemonium. “Kiloshele, where is the king that I just left not quite long ago?”
I was given a shocking news that the king slumped and became unconscious after I left the palace. Slumped? Unconscious? But how? Was he sick before now? Is he suffering from any ailment?
I was told the king has been healthy before that time. When I came into the palace and when I even left, he was very healthy. At least he was doing fine responding to cases brought before him by the people of the land so what could have made the king collapse and lost consciousness?

I felt bad luck has followed me again to the palace. After a deal has been signed and I’ve ran to carry my credentials, the king is now unconscious? Is it a mere coincidence?
I began to cry again to God.

When I got home, I explained to my mum what is happening. She told me to brace up like a man and take the issue to a spiritual plane.
We knelt down, both of us and began to plead for Gods mercy for the king. We prayed till we could pray no more.
“Lord, please spare the king. Give him life so he can wake up. Let your mercy speak o Lord. Resuscitate the king dear father. We hold on to your word that you will bring to him health and cure. Please lord do something”.

The king did not regain consciousness until I left the village.
As I got to my room in town, my mum immediately phoned me that the king has woken up.
I perceived strongly that it was because of me that the king became unconscious. I perceived so strongly that something evil like a force is hovering around my life. I knew it’s no longer a physical battle. I believe it is now a spiritual battle and I have to fight it spiritually if I must gain spiritual victory.

What will Anthony do now?
It seems bad luck is just following him around. But I thought he is a strong Christian?
What then is responsible for his ordeal?
